G o d ’ s F a m i l y B i o Understanding
the importance of ministry, Tillman began seeking the Lord to whom
should make up this specific group of individuals. After several weeks
of fasting & praying, God directed Tillman to the seven individuals
who would initially make up God’s Family. The group’s first
rehearsal was held at the Harding Street Church of God, Kannapolis, NC
were they still rehearse to date. Their rehearsals were and are still
electrifying as they give God the praise with everything they have.
It is Tillman’s motto to: “Bless the Lord at all times and
His praise shall continually be in my mouth”. (Psalm 34:1) As
God’s Family prepared to full-fill the command of God, performance
opportunities started coming in. The group first live performance took
place, in front of almost 5,000 people, at the 2000 Rhythm & Blues
Festival in Charlotte, NC. In no way did the majority R&B crowd, in
attendance, intimidate the group. Instead, God’s Family received rave
reviews from those in attendance and other performing artist on the
ticket such as The Temptation Review, Freddy Jackson, and Vesta. The
group later took stage with gospel great Hezekiah Walker and Kurt Carr.
Again, God’s Family received much praise from the 2,500+ individuals
in attendance. While
working to full-fill God’s command, the group wasn’t excluded from
the trials & tribulations that we all face from day to day.
Management issues, personnel changes, sickness, and tricks from the
enemy slowed the process. However, God’s Family stayed the course and
was able to release their first project, “Walking in the
Light”, in November of 2002. The project experienced great
success and the anticipation for their next CD began to grow. The
next few years would take God’s Family through more trying times. God
called one of their most faithful members home, while at the same time
personnel continued to change. Even though the lost was a very sad
moment for the group, the personnel changes worked in their behalf. The
change brought new faces, extremely talented musicians, and creative
writers to the group. Tillman and God’s Family quickly realized that
God was working things out for their good and the stage for their new
project was set. On August 13, 2005, Tillman, along with God’s Family, walked out on faith and recorded their sophomore project “In My Father’s House – Live”. Almost 1 year later, after months of overdubs, re-recording, fixes, and accumulating funds, “In My Father’s House – Live” is set to release on Tuesday, August 8th. God’s Family deliver a variety of styles (from Praise & Worship to Hip-hop) on this project. The 13 track CD is expected to do very well in the Gospel Music Industry. Music lovers everywhere should add this project to their collection.
